BJP Condemns Udhayanidhi Stalin’s Appointment as Tamil Nadu’s Deputy Chief Minister

BJP’s Criticism of Udhayanidhi Stalin’s Appointment

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has strongly criticized the appointment of Udhayanidhi Stalin as Tamil Nadu’s Deputy Chief Minister, labeling it a blatant example of dynasty politics. Tamil Nadu BJP vice president Narayanan Thirupathi stated that while the Chief Minister has the prerogative to appoint ministers, Udhayanidhi Stalin lacks the maturity for such a high office. Thirupathi highlighted Udhayanidhi’s controversial remarks about eradicating Sanātana Dharma, questioning his suitability for the position.

Concerns about Maturity and Controversial Remarks

Thirupathi emphasized that Udhayanidhi Stalin’s lack of apology for his controversial statements further underscores his unsuitability. The BJP leader’s statement questioned Udhayanidhi’s ability to govern responsibly given his past actions.

Concerns Regarding Senthil Balaji’s Reappointment

The BJP also expressed concern over the reappointment of Senthil Balaji as a minister. Balaji, who spent 417 days in jail on charges related to a money laundering case, was described by the BJP as a source of shame for Tamil Nadu. This further fueled the BJP’s accusations of prioritizing family interests over public service.

BJP’s Accusations of Nepotism

BJP spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari echoed these sentiments, asserting that Udhayanidhi Stalin’s only qualification is his parentage. Bhandari framed this appointment as a prime example of the “parivarvad” (nepotism) often criticized by Prime Minister Modi. He contrasted this appointment with the Prime Minister’s call for young, inexperienced individuals to enter politics, highlighting the perceived hypocrisy.

National vs. Family Interests

BJP leader N Ramchander Rao further emphasized the party’s stance, stating that the DMK government prioritizes family interests over national and public interests. The focus, according to Rao, is clearly on dynastic succession rather than genuine welfare of the people.

Further Appointments Announced

In addition to Udhayanidhi Stalin’s elevation, the Tamil Nadu Raj Bhavan announced the recommendations for several other ministerial appointments, including V Senthil Balaji, Dr Govi Chezhiaan, R Rajendran, and SM Nasar.
