Born on October 2, 1869, in Porbandar, Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi married Kasturba at the age of 13 and later studied law at the Inner Temple in London. His journey took him to South Africa in 1893, where he utilized non-violent resistance in civil rights campaigns.
Returning to India in 1915, Gandhi began organizing farmers and urban laborers, advocating for their rights through movements such as Satyagraha and Ahimsa against British colonial rule. Tragically, on January 30, 1948, while on his way to an evening prayer meeting at Birla Bhavan in Delhi, Nathuram Godse, a Hindu nationalist, fired three fatal shots into Gandhi’s chest, resulting in his instant death.
