Google One Celebrates 100 Million Subscribers and Introduces AI Premium Plan

As of February 10, 2024, Google One, the cloud storage subscription service by Google, has achieved a significant milestone, surpassing 100 million subscribers. Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google and Alphabet, shared this accomplishment on X (formerly Twitter), marking a momentous occasion for the tech company’s subscription services.
Launched in 2018, Google One offers cloud storage plans starting at $1.99 per month, providing 100GB of shareable storage for up to five users. Subscribers in the United States enjoy additional benefits, including access to Google’s VPN service. Over time, the service has evolved, introducing features like Google Photos editing tools such as magic eraser, portrait light and blur, color pop, and sky suggestion.
In tandem with reaching the 100 million subscriber milestone, Google has unveiled a new AI Premium Plan for Google One, priced at $19.99 per month. This plan enhances the existing Premium tier, which already includes 2 TB of shareable storage. Subscribers to the AI Premium Plan gain access to advanced AI features, including Google’s AI assistant, Gemini, slated for integration with core Google services like Gmail, Docs, and Slides.
The growth of Google One contributes to the overall success of Google’s subscription business, which encompasses YouTube Premium and Music, YouTube TV, and has amassed over $15 billion in annual revenueтАФa substantial fivefold increase from 2019.
