Rishabh Pant Named India’s Test Captain

Rishabh Pant has been named India’s Test captain, succeeding Virat Kohli. The announcement was made by the BCCI on Wednesday, June 22.

Pant, 24, is the 35th Test captain of India. He has been in excellent form in recent months, scoring centuries in both the ODI and T20I series against South Africa.

The BCCI said that Pant was appointed captain “on the basis of his recent impressive performance and leadership qualities.”

Pant will be assisted by Rahul Dravid, who has been appointed the team’s head coach. Dravid had previously served as India’s batting coach.

Pant’s first assignment as Test captain will be a two-match series against England, starting in July.
