Audi Driver Flees After Fatal Collision

A food delivery agent lost his life after being hit by an Audi car in Pune’s Mundhwa area on Friday. The driver attempted to escape, but was apprehended by the police.

Police reports indicate that the driver first collided with a two-wheeler, injuring three individuals. Subsequently, he hit the victim’s motorcycle from behind, causing fatal injuries to Rauf Shaikh. The deceased succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

Accused Identified and Arrested, Case Registered

The accused, identified as 34-year-old Ayush Tayal, fled the scene after the incident. However, through CCTV footage investigation, his car was identified, and he was subsequently arrested at his residence in Hadapsar.

Police have registered a case under BNS Sections 105, 281, 125(a), 132, 119, 177, 184 at the Mundhwa Police Station.

Echoes of the Pune Porsche Case

This incident bears resemblance to the Pune Porsche accident that occurred in May 2023. In that case, a speeding Porsche driven by a 17-year-old under the influence of alcohol claimed the lives of two individuals.

While the Juvenile Justice Board handles the case against the minor, a separate case against the parents of the minor and doctors is ongoing, alleging evidence tampering.

The Porsche incident led to widespread outrage and sparked debate on leniency in such cases. The government responded by dismissing two state-appointed members of the Juvenile Justice Board for “misuse of power.”
